Journal Entry #2
Ok, so I think the last journal entry went pretty well! I think I will keep doing that...so here is a new one!
June 20, 2014
First of all, yes I write on the wrong side of the paper. This is because I do not believe in wasting pretty paper, and I have a feeling I will be documenting quite a lot this year, so I better save some space.
Today we went to the Blarney Stone. I spent the first half of the morning irritated. I felt like people kept calling me, I don't know why all of a sudden I feel this instant anger! Anyways, I went up to the top of Blarney castle with Nana and Papa, and Aunt Robbie. Robbie was saying that she was in a lot of pain. The whole time we were going up those steep steps though there was a rather large lady in front of me, and all I could think about was how much pain I was going to be in if she fell on me. Nana and Papa argued the whole way up there, I was glad that I had already gone to the top with Elizabeth and David. We had to force Nana to kiss the Blarney Stone, but everyone else did it willingly, even Aunt Robbie, after explaining to the man that she was in a lot of pain...he was unsympathetic. I think service with a smile is an American concept, they don't seem to care very much about that here.
After we left Blarney castle we went and got ice cream! There is more ice cream than anywhere I have ever been! It is really good here too. I ate caramel ice cream and strawberry cheesecake ice cream.
The sugar intake put me in a much better mood. Then we went home.
After ice cream we went home, it is Uncle Lou's 70th birthday.
We watched Bagger Vance because he thought it was a "life affirming movie." His words, I guess he really likes it. I thought it was really boring, there is a possibility that I am not old enough to understand the movie. I have to go and take a shower, my hair is so dirty that I don't think that I will ever find some of these bobby pins again. Good night!
I hate reading things like this. I threw away a lot of my journals because they were full of negative things, thankfully Caleb wouldn't let me tear any pages out of this journal, he said it is important to know that everyone was 16 at some point. I mean I WAS IN IRELAND! What was I upset about?!?! I paid for nothing, I just decided to be upset I guess. So, I hate reading these things because they remind me that I am not perfect, and I was not the perfect child/teen by any stretch of the imagination! Thinking back on that time, I think my current coffee addiction was fostered in County Cork, Ireland, so I might have just been exhausted. Who knows...
I did have a really good time in Ireland, I just had a bad day here. I think it is funny though, because I have really good memories of this day, I remember being happy and I remember the ice cream and the castle and how beautiful it was. How funny the way our minds work, I only hope I wasn't making my poor grandparents and aunts and uncles miserable. Oh well, everyone is 16 once right?
